Gods will for Adam and Eve was to obey what He said! Because God is the source of Life, as long as Adam did what God said, he would remain connected to Life.
That’s why God told Adam, do not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. This tree represented the Devil and his nature of rebellion against God, which is spiritual death or disconnection from God.
What was the work of the Devil’s? To cause Adam to rebel against God by not doing what God told him to do and doing what the Devil told him to do!
Why did Jesus come? To undo the works of the Devil. How did Jesus undo the works of the Devil? By only doing what God said! By obeying God!
Why did Jesus die on the cross? That was the will of His Father. And by only doing the will of His Father, Jesus undid the works of the Devil. Plain and simple.
Jesus’s death on the cross pays for our forgiveness from God for not obeying Him. Jesus resurrection from the grave overcomes death caused by doing the works of the devil. It opens up to every person the way to start obeying God.
Jesus is our example of how to undo the works of the devil in our own lives. By obeying Jesus we become connected to God the source of Life again.
Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. If any man wants to come after me, he must deny himself, take up his cross and follow me”.
Which means, if anyone wants to do what God says, and be connected to Life again, he must start obeying God.
That first obedience is to believe who Jesus is, the payment from God for our disobedience, and invite Jesus into our lives. By doing this we accept God’s forgiveness and we are cleansed from our sin, connected again to Life.
This opens the way for us to start hearing Gods voice again and obeying what God says to us. By obeying what God says to us, we undo the works of the devil in our own lives. We start to follow Jesus the source of Life.
The second obedience to God is to confess what He has done for us by telling someone. They overcome the devil by the blood of the Lamb, Jesus, and the word of their testimony.
